“The proposed measure extends the government’s support for the growth of golf tourism in the country. The development of golf tourism in the Philippines boosts the popularity of the game, increases the interest in the game of golf, and enhances the facilities of the various golf clubs,” Gorriceta said in his bill’s explanatory note.
“The manifesto aims to make the Philippines as a premier golf tourism destination in the year 2020 and onwards,” Gorriceta said. The Visayan lawmaker said the Asian Golf Tourism Convention was held in the country in April last year. HB 5770 provides that in recognition of the Philippines’ world class and unique golfing enclaves located all over the archipelago and the potential benefit from the expected growth in golf tourism, the year 2020 shall be declared as the “National Golf Tourism Year” in the entire country.
