|FULL MEDIA CONFERENCE: Opposition leader Anthony Albanese has called on the United States to lift its travel warnings for Australia. The United States advised its citizens to exercise 'increased caution' when travelling to Australia amid the ongoing bushfire crisis, placing the nation in the same risk category as Papua New Guinea.
Mr Albanese said the warning was not necessary and would only serve as a further economic blow to fire-affected businesses and communities. The Opposition leader called on Prime Minister Scott Morrison to address the issue with the US. “The Australian government should contact our counterparts in the US and ask for a revision of those assessments because quite frankly they are inaccurate,” he said. “Australia is still open for business.
