The Chinese government has deplored and opposed what it described as “excessive steps” taken by other countries in suspending their flights to China amid the outbreak of the 2019 novel coronavirus.

“We deplore and oppose those countries who went against WHO’s professional recommendations and ICAO’s bulletins and have lodged stern representations with them. Their actions, which sowed panic among the public, will not help prevent and control the epidemic.

Hua pointed out that the WHO even lauded China’s strong measures and stressed many times that it does not recommend and even opposes imposing restrictions on travel. “They should immediately correct their policies and wrongdoings in reference to recommendations of the WHO and ICAO and take concrete actions to support China’s battle against the epidemic,” she added.

Over the weekend, Cebu Pacific said all of its flights between the Philippines and Mainland China are canceled from Feb. 2 until March 29, 2020, while its flights between the Philippines, Hong Kong, and Macau are trimmed.

An over-reaction will be the wise thing to do in hindsight if a global pandemic occurs. An ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure. China can not tell countries to be too careful as cases have arisen as far as europe because of air travel. Life FIRST before economy.

The travel restrictions are justified specially for those countries who do not have the means and know how and resources to deal with it in the first place
