Queensland could see a $36 billion boost in jobs, exports and tourism if it secures the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

The cost of running the games would be over $4 billion but over half of this would be covered in Olympic Committee grants and ticket sales revenue.

Over 80 per cent of event structures are already in place with the possibility of south-east Queensland securing another 65,000 seat stadium. Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said she is determined to include the whole state in the Olympic Games. Image: News Corp Australia

We DON'T need it

No thanks

Bullshit. Lots of ifs buts & maybes.

Absolutely laughable. The “boost” would come from the QLD government borrowing more money and then have the taxpayers pay it back over the coming decades!

Take Tokyo , Russia has been banned essentially and who knows how the ‘virus’ will affect things come July 😳 Comm games were not beneficial for the economy , quite the opposite

Calling bullshit

Not wanted, not needed. Spend the money on more important things. Olympics becoming irrelevant

Islanders ; take China money & then lecture AUS over Global CO2 levels. Then ask AUS for more money. Coconuts to you!

Always ends up a net loss. Bad idea

Hang on, I thought planes and people were bad ClimateChange. Again it’s only us small folk who need to make the changes.

Much more likely to end up with $36 billion of debt

So many twitter experts with gold contributions like 'it's a waste of money' or 'no it wont' certainly demonstrates the depth of knowledge to arrive at such deep conclusions 😂

“Could”....my stocks “could” go up 150% today too...

The Olympics are a waste of money in the long term.

Depends if it's burning or flooding.
