tv Taiwan-bound workers who were stranded in the Philippines by a travel ban due to the novel coronavirus outbreak might receive financial aid from the government this week, the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration said Wednesday.

"Kung maisaayos po itong mga prosesong ito, malamang po, within this week po makakapag-distribute na rin tayo ng financial assistance," he told DZMM. Filipino workers stranded by a similar travel ban on China and its special administrative regions Macau and Hong Kong earlier received P10,000 in government aid, said Cacdac.

"Ang payo ko, 'wag munang mag-isip ng extreme na scenario dahil mayroon pa namang pag-uusap na mangyayari," he said. Believed to have emerged last year in a market that sells wild animals in the central Chinese City of Wuhan, the new coronavirus has killed 1,110 and infected 44,200 in China so far.
