Independent TD Michael Collins has said he let himself down for calling the outgoing Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport Shane Ross a "scumbag".
Speaking on RTÉ's Today with Sean O’Rourke, Mr Collins said that he normally "plays the ball and not the person" in politics. He added that he had asked Mr Ross to work with him on local issues but instead he came on a tour of Cork.He added people often use colourful language in the heat of battle and afterwards.
He’s right though

Can all new TDs stand up on their 1st day and just say sorry...altogether now........one blanket apology and we all move forward and look to sort out the real problems the country is facing.....and less of this drama
He's off to a good start, he knows how to admit when he's wrong. A rare thing in Irish politics.
