Australia's tourism industry is facing an 'unprecedented' fall in international visitors as the outbreak leads to a record number of holiday cancellations. Tourism ministers met in Canberra for crisis talks to discuss the economic effect, as the government commits an initial $4 million for a domestic advertising package.

Tourism Australia data reveals; between February 24 and March 1, year-on-year, bookings are down 100 per cent from China, 71 per cent from Indonesia, more than 50 per cent from the United States, 47 per cent from the UK and 32% from India. Government travel bans on people arriving via China, Iran and South Korea have further added to the tourism slump.

Where would a news story be without the word 'unprecedented'.

So Aussies should holiday in Australia to help until this overhyped virus passes.

Thanks china for the virus you disgusting humans

Go see Australia Aussie's 👍

This month's word of the month is: 'Unprecedented'. It's appearing everywhere in an unprecedented fashion showing that we follow others.

I hope the use of 'unprecedented' is a thinly veiled barb at the rest of the MSM. Not evidence of creeping stupidity.

Great time for us to holiday in Australia. In Townsville in January. Great place to visit.

Tourism also need to address poor service and high prices

Soo many racists commenting. Who would have thought all sky viewers

Waiting for the inevitable; SkyNews, confusing COVID with CORVID.

I would of thought that Australia would be one of the Safest Countries to come to in the wake of coronavirus! But then again I am applying CommonSense! Which seems to have gone out the window with some people!

Can't we just infect all lefties and victim hood enthusiast's? The only guilt you will feel is knowing people died you never knew. Traffic thins etc

Replace ‘the outbreak’ with ‘media hysteria’ please

The headline is alarmist and designed to incite emotion. You should know better. Whilst the pathway back to health, away from COVID19, is unclear, it makes sense for people to reduce non essential travel. What is the alternative?

If it has to happen to keep the country safe, then so be it.

The falls in tourism started with the climatechange driven AustralianFires. The government should invest in taking action on our climateemergency as they are the COVIDー19 virus.

The less Chinese grubs flying into Australia the better

And yet Australian govt will let Chinese in after 2 week’s isolation?

Don’t worry LNPCrimeFamily have this covered. 🤣🤣😂🤣😂

who cares

“The world is in the Midst of a Pandemic which is making people reconsider travelling, due to Coronavirus concerns & The Economy is reflecting this” There. Fixed your headline.
