Sky News business reporter Edward Boyd says the government needs to prioritise assistance for businesses worst affected by the coronavirus outbreak.

Prime Minister Scott Morrison is expected to unveil a stimulus package worth at least $10 billion this week in a bid to stave off a recession.

“It needs to go to businesses that are hurting the most, so the tourism sector, the travel sector is feeling it particularly hard right now,” he said. “Perhaps we might see some short term tax breaks for business, payroll tax assistance.” Image: AP
