The State Department on Sunday issued the warning, which could further hurt the cruise ship industry and the port cities that depend on it.

that passengers on the hulking vessels are more likely to contract the coronavirus infection and could be subject to quarantines and other international travel restrictions.

Up until Sunday, the White House has resisted such declarations because President Trump has not wanted to do or say anything that might further hurt the stock market and the travel industry. Over the last month, the stock price for Carnival Corp., owner of Princess Cruises,The State Department alert came the day before the Grand Princess cruise ship was expected to dock at the Port of Oakland, where 3,000 people — about 1,000 of whom are from California — will disembark.

This was announced Sunday, yesterday! The CDC is really getting ahead of this one I see.

This just end, the Health Department made an important statement: 'Don't lick doorknobs'

I admit that I would have never thought that USA could found itself off-guard. COVID-19 was making some noise in EU from February... 🧐

With other germ related incidents on cruise ships, that has kind of been my stance for the past couple of years. 🛳❌❌

Never have never will

Duh I can’t anyways I get motion sickness

Time to book a cruise.

Yes, why did these fools get on to begin with! now looks at this damn fiasco.

Well that just destroyed any hope left of travel agents to make a cruise sale this year...

More people spend more time in close quarters with other people on planes, trains, and buses than on cruises. At least on cruises they don’t share bathrooms during the voyage.

This is good advice regardless of whether or not there is a spreading virus.

Hurt the industry all they want, but they are breeding ships for disease, sickness, and catching the Coronavirus. If you choose to get on one, you need to be on your own. Stop allowing them off at the end of a trip if even one person comes up infected.

Now my wife will not bother asking me to go on one ever again!!!!!

California is Ground Zero thanks to governor Newsom

I wouldn’t be caught dead on those floating petri dishes, virus or not.

Good news for Hometown Buffet. Now all the cruise ship people will have to find other places to fulfill their gluttony.

Non refundable deposit

Central ventilation if one person has coronavirus Then they all have been exposed

Only an idiot would board a floating Petri dish in the middle of a pandemic. Warn them once and the stop letting them dock. Enough.

Too bad that warning is just a wee bit late dontcha think?

IF you're all so scared and declaring 'states of emergency' for next to nothing, why no mass quarantine like in China? Fathom folks being under martial law basically? And MarchMadness is coming.....

Welcome aboard

Sorry Charlie the buffets are closed

Don’t worry Pocahontas has a plan

Where’s gilligan

Has looked into how the government could repurpose cruise ships into hospital ships during the crisis?
