Retailers in South Australia have begun to reopen their doors as the state moves into the first stage of easing restrictions due to a low number of coronavirus infections and community transmission.

Premier Steven Marshall said the state’s borders would remain closed for the foreseeable future but he was eager for people to return to work to restart the economy “as quickly but as safely as possible”.

Under the state’s roadmap, residents can also travel to regional areas, restaurants are permitted to offer outdoor dining and sports teams can resume training in groups of up to 10. SA is set to move into the second stage of reopening in four weeks, with stage three projected for July - although no date has been set. Image: News Corp Australia
