The coronavirus pandemic has devastated the travel and tourism industry.

Key Points

Airlines' passenger revenue is estimated to plunge by $314 billion in total — or 55% — from 2019 levels, according to the International Air Transport Association. To limit the spread of Covid-19, more than 200 countries and territories worldwide have imposed measures that restrict or deter people from entering their respective borders, according to"Never before in history has international travel been restricted in such an extreme manner," the report by UNWTO read.

There were four broad categories of restrictions, according to the report. Of a total of 217 destinations,65 countries and territories suspended flights totally or partially;16 countries and territories, or the remaining 7%, implemented other measures such as requiring visitors to quarantine.

Wow,did you just figure that out It's all non essential, yet 300 people in Lowes is just fine. Home projects are essential.

Just think of all those summer jobs that young people fill at amusement parks in the upper U.S. Those people won't have any work, even if a park opens 30-40%. And all the ballparks around the country..guess people aren't considering all of these lost jobs

CNbC It would be very interesting to see this graph divided by type of destination - Tourism (ie. Beach) and Metro Business (ie. NYC)!
