Share with fellow readers the spontaneous meetings and happy accidents that made a perfectly nice break unforgettable

For us it was the welcoming smiles and rustic food at a remote taverna in the Cretan hills – our faith in a single hand-painted sign rewarded after what felt like hours of driving, car-sick youngster in the back.

Yes Guardian, this is what we're all thinking about. Bloody holidays and being outside without the risk of major organ failure. Rub it in why not?

There was this one time in a bath house in Barcelona...

Very interesting talk in Italy. About Coronavirus, BillGates and all his collaborators of course. Something to say ? 🎤 👁

Forget ‘chance encounter’ - Where is that? And when, dear god, can I get there?!

In February, I took my 1st trip to England. I met a couple at the train station. The husband helped me with my bag even fixed a wheel. We shared breakfast, had the most delightful chat our children, politics, our countries. So very nice. I pray they are well.

Chatted with a car park attendant on Mousehole Harbour. Had s bit of banter about Yorkshire accents, then towns, then villages. Turns out he knew my dad who I myself never knew, as my parents split when I was a toddler 😮

On a trip so Santorini and past a shop selling Guardian newspapers. Didn’t buy one so didn’t have to read any wishy washy, liberal lefty, let’s get insulted and upset by absolutely everything and anything bollocks that could have ruined my holiday.

At age 16, on a visit to Florida with family, we spent the day at Universal Studios. A woman, from another country, older than me, traveling alone caught my eye and never let go of it. She wore a white t shirt and jeans, and had a perm. She was of Asian descent.

I was in Ushuaia, Argentina in a museum when someone called my name. It was a doctor that I worked with in North Dakota.

Ha! Travel serendipity, this morning I was writing about visiting the place in your stock photo today (Nas, Ikaria, right?)

In Paris 2003 in middle of the 50*plus summer that took 10,000 lives in Paris Alone I was desperate for sunscreen & lost my way to store I asked for directions in broken bad French the lady walked me 2 blocks to the store .. was so lovely & friendly . I’ve never forgotten it .

When in London, I met a lady who told me about Kew Gardens. Been in the city for days and needed to find some nature. Took the train out to the Gardens, and although the atriums were closed, it was exactly what was needed. Beautiful place.

Gauche to post this during the pandemic

Ten years in my own personal CPTSD prison? I've become quite accustomed to leaning heavily over a crumb-filled keyboard, while surfing the plethora of dream holidays, that everyone else enjoys uploading on YouTube. My 20yr old autistic son and I have NEVER had a holiday! 😟

Random bloke at Glastonbury slipped me some acid.

No chance but thanks for the memories!
