BANGKOK (The Nation/ANN): Deputy Transport Minister Athirat Rattanaset has urged the Port Authority of Thailand (PAT) to consider developing the logistics and tourism capabilities of Khlong Yai Port in Trat province.

He made his remarks after meeting with the PAT on Thursday , adding that the Marine Department completed construction of this multipurpose Bt1.3-billion port in 2015

“The Transport Ministry’s logistics development committee resolved on Aug 17,2018 that the PAT would manage the port and open its services within 2021, ” he said. “Meanwhile, we urged them [PAT] to consider developing the port as a centre of tourism and logistics in the eastern region, via public-private partnership [PPP] projects and other means.”

According to analysis, Khlong Yai Port’s net present value is Bt8.38 million, while its benefit to cost ratio is 1.01 and economic internal rate of return is 12.13 per cent. - The Nation/Asia News Network
