Premiers who refuse to open their borders despite dropping COVID-19 case numbers will be “answerable to their tourism industry”. .aclennell

Premiers who refuse to open their borders despite dropping COVID-19 case numbers will be “answerable to their tourism industry”. These are the words of Tourism Minister Simon Birmingham who has for the first time publicly weighed into the feud between state leaders who are refusing to open their borders and shed light on the rift forming between each state’s approach to economic recovery.

“If one or two states were to hold out they will be answerable to their tourism industry and will need to provide additional support to that industry.” The sensational comments came after Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk suggested she would keep her borders shut until September. NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian has also raised concerns people from NSW could visit New Zealand before Brisbane.

aclennell Your wrong Andrew Clennell. Just went down south for 3days in WA and spent money in the town...stop the spread by keeping our border closed in WA

aclennell MarkMcGowanMP tough words but guess what, lives, health and safety are more important to me, my family and my friends than $ for tourism from interstate. It’s a choice and we choose closure. What price for lives?

aclennell This pandemic is a temporary hurdle. It shouldn't stop prospective tourists from purchasing holiday package vouchers, gift certificates etc that could be redeemed on a later date. E.g.: 'Celebrate Coronavirus's Defeat Package' - ? Nights - Picturesque Seymour - Breakie included

aclennell This GOOSE has stuffed Every Portfolio he has been Given a Loose Cannon

aclennell Has dear Gladys opened up regional NSW?

aclennell Health first, without it nothing else matters. Tourism is a lame last.

aclennell Are you serious. Borders need to be kept closed. When they were open between countries and states the virus spread rapidly and killed many.

aclennell This same Tourism Minister .Birmo beating a tin drum, ill-advised, he told InsidersABC 17/5 he would “take China ban on beef imports to WTO”, which is just about defunct, Appeals Panel non-functional, a Trump casualty.

aclennell Palasczcuk will be answerable to the voters in a few months unless the cunning corrupt CFMEU concubine postpones the election.

aclennell And the Tourism Industry has what power ? What a useless comment !

aclennell lol

aclennell This is a huge problem for Australia with premiers playing tough while their tourism industry goes into a melt down. QLD should be the first to open bc they will send many many people bankcrupt. No reason to prolong this, virus under control all over Australia!

aclennell What's the difference between me holidaying in WA and a Victorian holidaying in Victoria and me holidaying in Victoria and the Victorian holidaying in WA? The plane fare. The local tourism industries get equal benefit. Is the Tourism minister dumb as a box of hammers?

aclennell This little gem did a lot for the tourism industry. Who is answerable for the RubyDutton ?

aclennell Whatever happened to 'The State Premiers will decide'?

aclennell Ok then. Open them up by all means .and EVERY DEATH after that will hang around the CorruptCoalition neck FOR ever. GO 4 IT . Birmo ScottMorrisonMP LiberalAus .. AustralianLabor TheProjectTv PMLive CovidPete

aclennell

aclennell Why is ScottMorrisonMP not simply focusing on the unconstitutional nature of these restrictions. Instead of being answerable to tourism how about the high court of Australia

aclennell What a power trip this woman is on. Just give her what she's after so we can get the borders open!

aclennell This makes no sense. Why wouldn’t people be happy to travel within their own state. In Vic, v happy to go to Gippsland, the Great Ocean Rd, Castlemaine, Grampians...

aclennell Are liberal politicians answerable to their leaders when they post nazi pictures of labor politicians

aclennell What is it with scomodemic and his band of oxygen thieves. Leave it to the states one day. Next day its blackmail. Tourism, covid app, schools and lets not forget scumomatic and his handling of China then tell farmers to hunt markets elsewhere.

aclennell Reopen caravan parks and camping grounds in Victoria

aclennell If the prime minister says it’s open it should be bloody well open

aclennell Birmo I take it you have a vaccine! In case you don’t know WA are encouraging tourism, only its tourism in sure places during an unsure time. Slow and steady... Anyway about your China negotiations, hows that going?

aclennell AnnastaciaMP MarkMcGowanMP Listen up !!

aclennell Perhaps Birmo doesn't care as much about the health and well-being of Australians as the Premiers do.

aclennell But the states are just following the phased implemention approved by the Feds, which also allowed the states to set their own timelines.

aclennell Premiers who refuse to open their borders despite dropping COVID-19 case numbers will be answerable to all their constituents.
