Michelle Marquardt, said women were more likely to report feelings of loneliness, with 28 per cent of women describing feelings of loneliness as opposed to 16 per cent of Australian men.
"Around one in five people also reported that they were experiencing difficulties maintaining a healthy lifestyle, which was more of a problem for those aged 18 to 64 years than those aged 65 years and over ," Ms Marquardt said. The survey conducted by the Australian Bureau of Statistics also documented changes Australians have been experiencing in their lifestylesSome 22 per cent who said they are "eating more snack foods such as chips, lollies and biscuits", 14 per cent reported an increase in alcohol intake , as well as 58 per cent who reported "spending more time in front of their television, computer, phone or other device".
Ms Marquardt added that "during the period from early April to early May, one in six Australians aged 18 years and over used a Telehealth service. Almost half said the Telehealth service was a replacement for a previously arranged face-to-face appointment.
