Sky News Political Editor Andrew Clennell says “it’s time” to reopen the border between New South Wales and Queensland or thousands of jobs will be at risk.

Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk on Monday stood firm on her position her state’s borders may not reopen until September, despite calls from Tourism Minister Simon Birmingham to do so. Mr Clennell said as the virus will “never be eradicated” it was time, while case numbers were low, to reopen the state.

aclennell I would consider carefully the degree of testing going on in Victoria v NSW and ponder whether that has something to do with discoveries of more C19 cases in Vic Aged Care. What is fundamentally different between Vic & NSW Aged Care systems? Is NSW so safe?

If Dr Young says to me at the end of this month, we can open the border, then I’ll open the border.\n\n“But we just have to wait to that end of each month to get that medical and health advice.”\n\nImage: News Corp Australia AnnastaciaMP Than she’s sending most of the Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast businesses to the wall.
