In an email to members, Marriott announced that over 5,500 properties, representing almost 80% of its portfolio, will be priced at off-peak rates through July 31, 2020. Bookings must be made by June 30, 2020, to qualify for the special pricing. Fifth night free on award booking policies still apply which sweetens the deal further.
“Given the disruption in your travel plans this year, we will be giving you a head start toward earning status next year by depositing 50% of the Elite Night Credits into your account based on your 2019 earned Elite status tier. Your 2019 earned status has already been renewed through February 2022, so these additional ENCs will jump-start your ability to move quickly to the next Elite tier. You will see these additional ENCs deposited in your account in late July.
This offer becomes even more interesting if you hold a Marriott personal or business co-branded credit card. Since the credit card already comes with 15 elite nights, if you’re a Marriott Gold member with the Bonvoy credit card and 25 nights in 2019 you’ll already have 28 nights for 2020 . Combine the personal card with a business card and the 30 nights you have already earned becomes 43, which means you only need seven paid or award nights to achieve Platinum status.
Since Marriott is giving 50 Night Credits to those who earned Ambassador status in 2019 and credit card holders can earn up to 30 Night Credits just by holding a personal and a business card, it’s possible to achieve Ambassador status and the Platinum gifting benefit with just 20 nights in 2020. Status Extension: You’ll be able to enjoy the status that you earned in 2019 through February 2022.
