The move to install more health workers at quarantine hotels follows outbreaks at two hotels in Melbourne that have grown to 33 people, most of them security guards

Hotels quarantining returned travellers will be allocated more healthcare workers after a series of coronavirus infections among security guards and hotel staff.

One security guard who worked at the Rydges hotel, Sebastian Porter, said he had not been properly briefed on hygiene protocols when first asked to work at the site. The nation's Chief Medical Officer Brendan Murphy this week said he understood Victorian health authorities were "doing a very extensive review of staffing and security provisions in their hotel quarantine".

A Department of Health spokesman said after the Rydges on Swanston outbreak a review of infection control processes at quarantine hotels was undertaken, "including staff members' use and disposal of personal protective equipment, cleaning arrangements, waste management and physical testing. Further reinforcement and training regarding these protocols has been undertaken."

They said security guards at the hotels were the people most exposed to coronavirus in Australia. "No one has seen more COVID than the hotel quarantine program – no hospital in this country."

I wonder if all the security guards are on 457s or have no training in infection control- not fair to them!!

Time for a 4corners investigation. Ask these qns: what did DHHS know about Cedars Meat? Why did Vic start testing late? What contact tracing protocols are in place? Why were protests allowed when virus still in community? Who is making the decisions? What training given

Staff are Not properly trained in Infectious control. Go figure.

So why is Melbourne not a hotspot, has the most cases in the state

The staffs need to wear surgical masks.

33. COME ON! REALLY? STILL ?

Forgive me, just a twinge of arrogance from Andrews, declining offer of Defence to help at the Quarantine Hotels. 'Nah, we're right'. As evidenced in the national Covid stats lol! Like the Cedar Meats cluster was 'handled perfectly.' Does he ever admit a mistake or shortcoming?

Perhaps not a good idea for guards to be having 'relations' with guests.
