Despite strong requests by Premier Gladys Berejiklian for Victorians not to come to NSW, travellers are still heading to Sydney and say they believe it's safe to travel.

People yet to travel say they're going ahead, but are taking safety measures.

She hasn't seen her parents, who live in Penrith in Western Sydney, since Christmas and booked last week to come to Sydney on July 6 on a Jetstar flight. She said she's not near any hotspots and is isolating at home for two weeks before travelling and "taking all the precautions". "I booked the flights last week and then the news of this spike came out. I've been monitoring the news over the last couple of days to see if there's any border closures."Download the ABC News app and subscribe to our range of news alerts for the latest on how the pandemic is impacting the world

The Victorian spike comes as airlines reinstate flights and push for domestic travellers to return to the air.

Covid19NSW She asked people from 6 hotspots not to come. That isn’t the entire flight. I’m heading to Sydney next week on 4 days business from Melbourne. I’m not in a hotspot and haven’t visited one in the past month. I don’t feel bad in the slightest for still making the trip.

Inconsiderate selfish pigs!

If NSW was serious & closed their borders to Victorians then the airlines would refund the tickets - NSW position just makes it difficult for people

I have to fly to Sydney from Hobart next month. But there is no direct flight to go there so I have transfer my airplane through Melbourne. For the sake of god, can anyone tell me what should I do? I really need help!

Covid19NSW Selfish stupidity

ABCscience Build the wall!

Easy fix, do as WA does, 2 week quarantine on arrival.

be responsable. Delay any unnecessary trips.

It's a bit rich of NSW to close the border after they gifted so many cases to other states e.g. Ruby Princesd

Can’t fix selfish people

Good on them

Currently 0.0002% of the population is infected. Chill the f*%k out people. It is just a second wave of fear-mongering. Seriously short memories.

The risk is from two extended families in ethnic communities in lower socio-economic local government areas in Melbourne

stay the fk away! Im not going through this quarantine Bullsht again

Is it urgent to travel to NSW? if just for travel, so selfish those people are.

Moronic

Please. Stop panicking. This is not a second wave. The number of cases is extremely low. In Australia we are the envy of the planet in COVID__19 and media are going for click baits scaring uninformed sectors of the population. Stop it.

no problem Australia = Westralia + New South Victoria (NSW +Vic)

Open the borders, Open the borders, Open the borders......should have kept them borders closed.

NSW should follow NZ’s lead. We’ve come too far to have this jeopardised now. Close the southern border early, and close it now. Or impose a two week quarantine. This can just as easily spread into the state and to the rest of the country. SA should do the same.

Does it have to be an Asian guy for this article? The Australian media is so racist. AllLivesMatter ScumMedia Xenophobia

It’s all about me🤮🤮hopefully get turned back at the Mascot and told to piss off

A second wave approaches as the tide rolls in. Hope you can surf. No boarders no surfing.

they should be banned or they'd cause a sread in Syd too We dont need tourism like bush towns

Round them up, lock them up in a quarantine hotel for two weeks AND CHARGE THEM THE FULL AMOUNT OF THEIR STAY.

We should take a lead from the Americans and build a wall to keep the Mexicans out.

Just because you can doesn’t mean you should!!

Good chance they’re not one of the 17 cases in the whole state of Victoria. Utter nonsense
