Leo Varadkar wants to open the skies to holidays abroad and begin welcoming tourists back here as one of his last acts as Taoiseach.
Mr Varadkar gave the travel thumbs up in what could be his last big interview as the country’s leader on RTE’s PrimeTime. “We’ve got our caseload down so low now, so low, that there’s a real risk of re-importing it from the countries where the virus is still so prevalent.” Mr Varadkar said the deal being rejected could spark a “political crisis” because there is no Plan B and an alternative pact with Fianna Fál is a non-runner.
