From tomorrow, it will be "strongly recommended" that people staying in quarantine hotels in Tasmania have voluntary coronavirus tests at days five and 12 of their stay, Premier Peter Gutwein says. The case was a young woman who had travelled from Victoria to Tasmania and was in a quarantine hotel in the state's south.Today other guests and staff at the hotel will be checked for symptoms and offered testing.
Mr Gutwein said the tests on day five and 12 would not be mandatory and were available to people in quarantine at any time they requested.
“Strongly recommended” doesn’t work... why are we so afraid of the do-gooders and civil libertarians to make some procedures compulsory?
Has no one learned from Victoria Chancellor Pileoshite on Queensland isn't even testing people who volunteer for testing and Tas recommends testing. In quarantine it should be mandatory ffs.
Why you would avoid a test is beyond belief. Certainly compel them by law to submit to testing. Lives are at stake here.
Please make this mandatory, it's a public safety matter.
I have to wear a mask - they have to be tested -
That should really be mandatory.
If your in quarantine it needs tomandatory
My daughter did two weeks mandatory quarantine in Hobart and couldn’t get tested despite repeated requests.
