There are differing views ahead of a Cabinet discussion on the issue this evening, with one Cabinet source saying that a "substantial discussion" is needed before a decision can be made.
Fewer than a dozen countries are expected to make the list, but there is a view in Cabinet that the advice should be changed for countries on the list. Labour leader Alan Kelly asked the Taoiseach, Micheál Martin, about the issue in the Dáil this afternoon. He said the Tánaiste "doesn't see the point in it so which is it? Is it what you say or what he says?"
Sources say there is a lot up for discussion and there is still a degree of flexibility around what might be agreed later. Minister for Housing Darragh O'Brien has said there is "absolutely no division at Cabinet" on the publication of the list. Meanwhile, the chair of the Government's aviation task-force has warned some regional airports "might have to close" and thousands of jobs could be at risk unless the list is published.
