KOTA KINABALU: A Tawau man who took off his home quarantine wristband and falsified his travel history upon returning from overseas has been fined RM2,000.

He said the man committed two offences, and hence was penalised RM2,000.Last week, Tawau Health officer Dr G. Navindran said the man, who had just returned from Japan, deliberately took off his wristband. He also falsified information regarding his travel history at the district airport.He was interrogated when he went to the district health office.

Dr Navindran said the man was given a wristband to wear upon landing at Kuala Lumpur International Airport, but he did not have it on his wrist upon his arrival in Tawau.A new wristband has been given to him, and he is now undergoing home quarantine.
