Annastacia Palaszczuk has warned Queenslanders "now is not the time" to holiday south of the border with 106 New South Wales suburbs now banned from entering the state. The Queensland Premier warned she had no hesitations in slamming the borders shut to more of NSW if there continued to be clusters and community transmission.
The rhetoric around border closures has shifted in recent weeks as the coronavirus situation evolves across the country. Prime Minister Scott Morrison commended Ms Palaszczuk for her handling of the pandemic, backing the Premier's stance on borders despite initially calling her out for a failing to open them at the outset of the recovery process.
