The museum in Huntsville, Alabama, which houses the legendary Saturn V rocket, is usually the state's top paid tourist attraction. But since the pandemic began, it has lost two-thirds of its revenue, according to a news release. "We are now struggling for our very survival," John Nerger, chairman of the Alabama Space Science Exhibit Commission, said at a news conference Tuesday.
As of Wednesday afternoon, the GoFundMe has raised more than $400,000, with people commenting how much the center and Space Camp means to them and their families. "The summer I spent at Space Academy in the late 90's was a life-changing experience. Please, Save Space Camp! We need more programs like this for young people, more than ever. I am forever grateful for the opportunity, and I hope it can continue to inspire America's kids," one person commented.
The current administration has allowed tons of money to be invested in spaceX launches. Pretty sure the race to space is in a way better place than it's been in years!!!!
They leave all of those iconic, historic rockets on static display open to the weather? Years ago, KSC took their open air Saturn V display and gave it the weather protection it deserves by bringing it to an indoor display.
My family and I visit this everytime we pass through. It is amazing to see the Saturn V up close and in person. All the tech and people behind that era.
