Andrews pushes back reopening critical industries, prolongs economic pain | Sky News Australia

Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews has pushed back the re-opening date for multiple industries including retail, personal care and hospitality until the first of November. Tens of thousands of businesses have been left devastated as they wait two more weeks before opening their doors to the public.

The eased restrictions include the extension Melbourne’s travel bubble from five kilometres to 25 kilometres and the two-hour daily outdoor exercise and socialising limit has been lifted. Ten people from two households can now meet outdoors and golf courses, tennis courts and skateparks have reopened. A number of restrictions remain firmly in place including mandatory face masks and the ban against regional travel for Melbourne residents.

DanielAndrewsMP This is terrible for retail shop owners, but truth be told, it’s probably the right thing to do. Lots of other cities lifted restrictions on social gatherings AND retail simultaneously, and it didn’t work. It’s hard to pinpoint exactly what aspect was most dangerous.
