Local businesses are hoping that the festive season and the relaxation of travel restrictions will help to boost sales.

Leong Jia Xin, 25, who sells soft toys, Christmas decorations and gifts, said she received an average of 15 to 20 customers daily since setting up a stall at a mall about two weeks ago.“I have been setting up a stall here during the Christmas season for the past three years and sales were good as Singaporeans would come over to shop.

Meanwhile, clothes and fashion accessories shop worker Yvonne Lim, 23, said sales this festive season dropped by at least 80% compared to last year. Florist June Lim, 33, said her business picked up after the MCO in May but dropped again when the district was put under the conditional MCO.
