It is separate from sick pay or vacation

“From March 15 to Nov. 30, 2020, the estimated cost of ‘Other Leave with Pay ’ is approximately $819 million, based on the average daily pay rate of roughly $300 for federal public service employees entitled to leave,” says the Treasury Board document, dated Feb. 19.The Treasury Board issued a “clarification” of its leave policy on Nov.

As well, the government said that other types of leave, including accumulated sick time and vacation, would have to be used first. The Public Service Alliance of Canada, which represents a majority of federal employees, has filed numerous grievances over the new guidelines. It has also filed a complaint with the Canadian Human Rights Commission.

The union argues the directive disproportionately impacts marginalized employees hardest hit by the pandemic, including women, racialized workers and those with disabilities or family obligations.Share this article in your social network

MichelleRempel thinks the employees were policy makers and decision informers while they were mostly clerks. The national has the info, why didn't they publish job titles? Were they all 100 % not working from home?

And we never even missed them. Maybe we dont need them?

Not like there was much output from federal employees anyways. Put Julie palette in charge, she would whip those layabouts into functioning, productive citizens, but oooh the feelings she would hurt, but feelings are not facts

If you ever questioned who is the pro-lockdown group that keeps popping up in those polls, look no further. WereNotInThisTogether

While they were off say 6 months, they earned 9 sick days, 1 to 3 weeks vacation, personal day, volunteer day, banking income they never had to work for towards their gold plated pension, base on the cost of inflation, that no other industry gets

Signing bonus is being complain about paying tax on. Don't forget about the furniture that was bought desks, chairs, laptops, video cameras, and the list goes on.

Most of them had their contracts settled over the pandemic, with about 7% wage increases over 4 years, and a signing bonus for which a portion off them had trouble with their pay system(phoenix), but all of them are getting a week off and a $2500 signing bonus.

Lots of people were paid to stay home by the government during COVID. Forget that there’s reasons, start hating. The article is only meant to stoke the fires of hate versus public sector workers. I’m a teacher, I’ve been verbally abused by the public for years. Nothing new here.

And PSAC will find a dozen reasons to complain.

But we're all in this together...😂

. 69 clause? Sexist! 😂 Private sector risk their lives getting Covid for low pay, while high paying Feds Gov't employees stay home doing nothing on full pay and benefits. Trudeau was working only part time from his cottage too. You voted Trudeau! Your tax dollars at work.😜 .

Could call this out as an unfair clause & dispute. However, during such a time many of these cases are likely stand up individuals put in a bad situation. I truly wish anyone affected could have received = opportunity but we know that didn't occur. Fed transparency issue again.

Begin with the TrudeauPilingItHigherDeeperDailyPM end in mind.

I think if ever there was a time to seriously consider guaranteed basic income as a foundation of our society it should be now. And I was pretty skeptical before.

Yup there is a disconnect between power responsibility and most important NO ACCOUNTABILITY!!

No wander they don’t mind the lockdown

This is brutal. You win the lottery if you get hired in the public service. No accountability, no expectations and no need to work. Full salary unlike the rest of us.

Liberals don’t respect our tax dollars, this shouldn’t surprise anyone. Whatever happened to “no work, no pay”

Folks on the pointy end of the stick were on the job. I was/am one of them.

No connection to reality in public service jobs whatsoever....

'In all, 117,000, or 39 per cent, of federal employees spread across 86 departments and agencies, were approved for the leave.' No respect for our tax dollars.

Said employess didn't receive CERB, so what's the complaint?

Lots of companies paid employees a wage through the wage subsidy, that didn’t work for months. You may say those are private companies, but it was government money which was paying them to do nothing. I’m not complaining, just a fact. JustinTrudeau made it rain & lots danced.

Entitled to their entitlements.

Thinking a lot of them would be considered essential & therefore should be working.

Plus don’t forget the office furniture. Wasn’t that over 100 million?

Disgusting!

They should take a pay cut like the rest of us
