The Malaysian hotel industry is expected to almost double its average occupancy rate during the Hari Raya week.

According to data by the Malaysian Association of Hotels , the AOR for hotels in the country stood at 20.5% during the first two months of this year.

In a previous interview with StarBiz, MAH chief executive officer Yap Lip Seng said the Ramadan month is often considered a good F&B income generator for hotels, especially for those that offered “buka puasa” or Ramadan buffets. “The second quarter is as good as gone, especially with the interstate travel ban being extended again and rising daily cases hitting new highs.
