People found breaching the Morrison government’s controversial travel ban stopping Australians returning home from India could face hefty fines and jail time.

Anyone who has spent time in India within 14 days of their intended arrival date in Australia could face a $66,000 fine and a five-year jail term for breaking the travel

ban. Many have labelled the ban unconstitutional and it is possible the government could be challenged on its decision in the courts. The decision will be reassessed on May 15.

India has been a high risk country to visit for many months. Question not being asked is why did these people go there and stay so long. My wife dont visit her family in the Philippines because the risk is she cant get back.

Ohh the irony .. a certain 'penal' colony is threatening to jail its own citizens of Indian diaspora with the pandemic excuse. Guess no human rights concept in penal colonies.
