Qantas has been accused of flooding the market with loss-making flights in a bid to squeeze out an ambitious competitor and owing customers billions.

The latest stoush erupted after Qantas unveiled it would begin flying between Melbourne and Burnie, a route only serviced by Rex.

Rex deputy chairman John Sharp alleges both Qantas and Virgin Australia have flooded the market with additional flights in a “concerted effort” to make it harder for the airline to operate. It is understood the increased capacity is in direct response to growing demand for interstate travel following the easing of pandemic restrictions.“We’re committed to maintaining a market share consistent with our pre-COVID position, and over the past three months have been increasing services as border restrictions ease and Australians return to the skies,” a Virgin spokeswoman said.

“Qantas owes passengers over $3 billion in refunds, and is using all means fair and foul to avoid returning the money because its free cash is only a tiny fraction of this obligation,” he said.Source:News Corp Australia

That is classic Qantas - recall Ansett?

That's how they crush small companies, just ride it out and it will be ok, qantas will realise that international flights won't return for another year and they will cry for cash
