The people of Kerry, Ireland's safest Covid county, are "delighted" with how they are coping with the virus - as a summer of domestic tourism beckons.
He said: “I’ve dealt with a lot of families that have people that died in hospital, and they couldn’t visit, they couldn't see their father, they could see their husband, they couldn’t see their wife, they couldn't see their son, they couldn't see their daughter and not everyone realises that element of Covid.Praising the governments for their actions throughout the pandemic, he said: “I think they had no choice in this… it was either do it right or face further losses of life.
Cahill said: “It is expected that those numbers would be surpassed this year. It is very important that we keep our guard up and keep, you know, implementing the social distancing, etc. and the more people that are vaccinated, obviously, the better.” She added: “Regardless of the case numbers at the moment, the fact that the vaccine is being rolled out, we predict that we're going to have a very busy summer season.”
