After months of missionary work in Jamaica, Thelma and Glen Perry of Barrie say they were welcomed back at Toronto's Pearson airport with a pricey surprise.

The fully vaccinated couple, who are in their 80s, were handed more than $12,000 in fines for not complying with the quarantine act.The Perrys' flight arrived a little earlier than the 10:30 p.m. expected arrival on July 4.

Instead, the couple says they were fined just before 10:00 p.m., despite asking if they could wait in the airport until midnight. Their only option was to stay at a government-approved hotel for three days and quarantine for two weeks.Local MP John Brassard is now trying to help the couple.

That’s disgusting! Seriously!😡

Call RebelNewsOnline … they will help you fight the fine

The law when applied fairly and equally serves the greater good.

A date is a date 🤷🏻‍♀️

Example of people not paying attention to details thinking that it doesn’t apply to them.

Stop Traveling while you idiots traveling lits people sacrificed not being with loved ones while they died STOP TRAVELING

Unbelievable - will be interesting to see how the Ministers react

Wait until midnight? 😂😂😂

My son landed on the 1st fully vaccinated, tested before landing, quarantined 2 nights had to pay for 3, had to self test at home day 8, another negative test, still has to quarantine til day 14. Also called by govt 3x checking up on him. Big hassle & cost but no fines.

Real question here is, what flight has EVER arrived 2 hours EARLY

Rules are rules. You knew them, you broke them. Should of booked a flight on the 6th.

Lol try and collect 12 grand from 2 80 yr olds. Ain’t happening.

Under current rule.

Fuck all of the governments policies during covid.

Americans who were caught 😳 on there pretend trips to Alaska in various parts of the country were 1. Treated better then these citizens that were out of country not suntanning on a beach somewhere but actually serving human kind & 2. Fined only $1000 per individual in BC last yr

Well if they can afford to travel and they break the rules they can afford the penalty

Snooze ya lose. No sympathy here, nail em.

'expiring' meaning still relevant, meaning u shouldnt have done it, so....?

Why couldnt they just do hotel quarantine and complete 14 days at home like everyone else.. Just follow the rules.. Like everyone

Canada you are losing your humanity. Shameful!

CBCNews Committed crime must have punishment no pardon even if the law changes in future. It was criminal when law was in force. No excuses please.

Good! It's called CONSEQUENCES. Something most responsible adults are familiar with.

Highway f-ing robbery...

They are fully vaccinated , they would have taken a negative test to get on the plane , so it's bullshit that they have to put up with this

Rules are for everyone. What is the exception here? Thousands others would have landed as well

Just fight it. There isn’t a judge in the country that will uphold this ticket.

you know what is really frustrating , is that they thought they were special and that the rules didn't apply to them. that thinks they dont deserve to be fined. have not enough people died from COVID for you? FUCK

Id hope they can appeal it. Im assuming they said they would not “hotel it” and thats why they were fined?

What does Richard Branson’s historic space flight mean for the future of space travel?Don't give a FRUITLOOP!! Only working poor & poor going out there with him to be servants or offering to alien's who don't want human's out there!?! It will reduce it to a novelty ride for the rich and the odd contest winner. The Wish Foundation might get a couple of trips too. We will still travel to the stars in the movies. Branson, Musk, and Bezos who could tackle child hunger, climate change, racial injustice, health care and still be richer than 99.9999% of us choose instead to be narcissistic assholes.

No more 'Gangnam Style': South Korea's COVID-19 rules demand slower workout music in gymsTo the standard restrictions such as social distancing and travel curbs, South Korea has added a requirement that gyms do not play music with more than 120 beats per minute during group exercises such as aerobics and spinning. A slow workout is not a workout. Ah yes. Nothing pushes one to workout harder like Erik Satie's 'Gymnopedie' 😂
