KUALA LUMPUR (Bernama): The Malaysian Employers Federation (MEF) has asked the government to allow businesses within the states to resume operations with strict compliance to the standard operating procedures (SOPs) while the movement control order (MCO) restrictions on interstate travel remain enforced.

President Datuk Dr Syed Hussain Syed Husman urged the authorities to open up all economic sectors in the areas within the state borders as this would allow the businesses and the economy to recover, as well as revitalise the job market.

""Therefore, we urge the authorities to allow all non-essential sectors to open, including sports, barber shops and salons, but excluding the night entertainment industry. And those who have received two doses of the vaccines should be rewarded by allowing them to dine-in at restaurants,” he said in a statement on Sunday .

Alarmed by the emergence of the Delta variant, he said the MEF had advised employers to be more vigilant in pretecting their employees, including those who had received two doses of Covid-19 vaccines. "We are also concerned about other variants such as Alpha, possible Zeta, Delta Plus, Lambda and other unknown variants that have been detected in various parts of the world,” he said.

Malaysians have the tendency to abuse privileges. Bagi sikit, dia pusing utk dapat lebih. Don’t think we should lift restrictions too soon particularly opening State borders. Perlis went into Phase 3 and they just reported 41 cases, highest in a single day

It should’ve been long ago.

Let's look how Perlis and Sarawak in next few weeks? Went to phase 3 and 41 cases in Perlis!

You should check the way of the major developed countries in the world.

ONLY if the 2nd dose rate has reached to a certain number according to each state. Dining out will help tremendously for the mental wellness of everyone and it will help business to stay afloat. Should start with that first before we open borders across states.

It's supposed to be but how did delta come here otherwise? All business owners and staff must be fully vaccinated. No 2 ways about this. Esp f & b outlets if we are going to allow dine-in. The stupid thing Malaysia did was keep the country border's open, while restricting inter-state travel. With poor contact tracing, God knows how many cases were brought in by international travellers.
