In nine hours, you could fly from Chicago to Miami three times. One traveler spent that long on hold with an airline's customer service number.

While traveling in Bulgaria with his family in mid-August, Alex Maleev called Deutsche Lufthansa AG hoping to switch his son’s plane ticket and get him on an earlier flight back home to New York.

That simple chore, which he thought would take a few minutes by phone, turned into a three-day undertaking. A comic book illustrator, Mr. Maleev, 49, used the time to produce what he calls the Lufthansa Files. Heon the first day during his hourlong wait before he got disconnected. The next day, he drew another Daredevil while on hold for an hour, then hung up. On the third day’s hourlong wait, he sketched Marv from the “Sin City” comic series, and posted the drawings on Twitter.Mr.

Lufthansa said the wait times are due to high travel demand, complex booking requests and continuously changing travel regulations. “We are doing our utmost to increase our capacities to meet the demand,” said spokeswoman Christina Semmel.

I waited more than 5 hours with the call center of Americsn Airlines..then someone in India answer with such a hard accent that I can’t understand him.

Time to roll out the plans for high speed train and offer choices. So much for freedom in the US. As long as you are a consumer, there is freedom. 😂 Hopefully the new generations will change that. Baby boomers were too weak.

I had to wait 3 1/2 hours to speak with a representative to get a refund for my flight that was canceled by the airline, it took a year to get my money back, those greedy airlines don't want to give the money back even if is their fault 🙄

Unfortunately , this does not apply to the airline industry alone. It basically applies to all sectors ,banks even phone and internet companies

At least with American you have the option of them calling you back when you’re next in line.

That phone number gives you the option of a call back. No need to hold.

I was in a call back queue for Delta yesterday. Placed call at ~10am because app was down for flight change. Stated 2hr20 wait time... I missed 2 calls from them this morning at 1:47am and 1:59am while I was sleeping. Luckily app started working and I solved my problem on my own.

It's really hard to get any kind of customer 'service' anymore...with almost all companies. They think they're providing it. They're not.

Nine hours, eh? I get the point. Poor customer service. However, I'm not willing to hold 9 hours to make that point. Really now. ☎️

The article missed a key point that you don't always have to hold. delta offers to call you back. They have always called me back. That offer leaves me free to go about my normal day
