With Qantas a little more than a month away from relaunching international services, the airline's CEO has provided more details on what requirements will be in place for travellers.

Mr Joyce anticipates fully vaccinated Australians heading overseas will be required to have four COVID-19 tests as part of their journey - one before departure, one prior to flying back and two while completing seven-days home quarantine.

Mr Joyce said the government should move towards allowing inoculated residents back into the community after they have received a negative result after arriving home. "If the virus is circulating in Victoria and New South Wales when the borders open up and the lockdowns have ended, then there's no more risk from a person coming in from the UK and the US," he said.
