Tourism Minister Stirling Hinchliffe said the new tourism campaign marks a 'great opportunity' for Queenslanders to explore the Sunshine State “with our two biggest customers – New South Wales and Victoria - unable to travel'.

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said now is the right time to book a holiday as she unveiled the $8 million tourism campaign, named the Great Queensland Getaway, on Thursday.

“I’ve seen firsthand the significant impact the pandemic has had on tourism businesses right throughout the state,” she said. “We’re working hard to find new ways to support tourism businesses to make it through these challenging times. The Queensland government has launched a massive tourism campaign with big discounts on flights, accommodation and experiences to encourage locals to holiday in the Sunshine StateThe bargain prices will be available on Queensland.com from Monday, with up to 50 per cent off tourism experiences, as well as budget flights and bus passes.Ms Palaszczuk said the campaign is expected to generate $80 million for tourism businesses.
