KOTA BARU, Feb 6 — The government will pay up to 60 per cent of the losses incurred by pilgrims affected by the month-long temporary postponement of umrah travel imposed since Jan 8, said Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Ahmad Marzuk Shaary.
“We know of umrah pilgrims who were stranded recently and they suffered some losses in expenses such as for accommodation and other bookings. Therefore, the government will bear part of their losses. He was met by reporters after attending a programme with fishermen in the Kijang state constituency at the Malaysian Fisheries Development Board Complex here today.
He said the affected pilgrims will be required to go to the nearest TH branch office by bringing the relevant documents, such as identity card, visa and also details of their umrah package.

So many small businesses closed shop due to Covid restrictions. So many other religious travel cancelled too. Can we compensate them too? Why special treatment? This is not a tweet targeting religion but just the weirdness of this situation. Just think rationally.

Using sin money to pay for religious based travel?
It is not govt duty to pay the losses using tax payer money. The loses should be bear by the travel agency itself. They take the risk to do the travelling while COVID CASES IS STILL HIGH. Rakyat must against the govt action plan.
I'm all for government compensating people who suffered losses but they need to make it fair. Following this approach by the Gov, everyone and anyone who suffer loss due loss due to Gov decision, regardless if such measure was necessary, can claim for compensation.
