The CEO of the ASX-listed company that runs tourist ferries in Queensland and SA says optimism is building.

In the six months ended December 31, earnings before interest and tax for the Australian bus business were up 19.3 per cent to $30.3 million. It operates 3186 buses under government contracts.

The group’s marine and tourism division suffered a 30 per cent slide in EBIT to $17.7 million because of restrictions and lockdowns. “The bookings are much stickier,” he said. Those who did have to delay for some reason, such as isolation requirements, were still intending to travel again at another date.
