Analysis: Hop on a plane, it’s not too late for Easter air fare bargains

Those looking to book a last-minute Easter getaway may be surprised by some of the flight deals that are still available for the upcoming long weekend.by airfare, accommodation and car hire search engine Kayak show the costs of return economy-class seats on flights for destinations popular with Sydneysiders and Melburnians are down by as much as 27 per cent compared to last Easter when travel volumes were hit by COVID-19 restrictions.

Return fares to Melbourne from Sydney are 7 per cent lower, at $207. Brisbane is the most heavily discounted destination among the places popular with Sydneysiders - down 27 per cent to $247. Flights from Melbourne to Adelaide is 12 percent cheaper than a year ago at $242 and Launceston is 13 per cent cheaper at $223. Brisbane is the most discounted popular destination for Melburnians, with air fares down 19 per cent at $223.
