Britain's iconic tourist sights like Stonehenge are still struggling to pull in enough visitors to match pre-pandemic numbers.

Last year, 67.8 million people visited the country’s major attractions like Westminster Abbey and the National Gallery, which have joined forces as the Association of Leading Visitor Attractions.

“That’s because in a normal year, they’re largely dependent on overseas visitors, who haven’t been coming here for the last few years,” association director Bernard Donoghue told British news agency PA. For visitors in Britain, meanwhile, fewer visitors also means smaller crowds during visits to popular places like the National Gallery and Tower of London.

Due to strict quarantine and testing requirements, travel to Britain has been fraught with high hurdles and costs for a long time.
