The Zanzibar Commission for Tourism has reacted to the allegation of sexual assault made by a Nigerian lady, Zainab Oladehinde.
She wrote on Twitter, “Around 12:00am, a few friends and family called to wish me a happy birthday and then I went back to my room to sleep. A few hours into my sleep, I started to feel a strange hand touching my breast. “He started calling me “baby” and then I became scared cause the room was dark as I had switched off the lights before I went to bed. Now, I was extremely scared.
She added: “So I continued begging him and telling him I’d allow him to have sex with me but he’d need to go get a condom so as not to get HIV. While making efforts to nab the culprit, Oladehinde said she reported to the police but the complaint was dismissed after a medical report established that there was no penetration. She wrote:"I got back to the police station and the policemen said they have no issue with the sexual assault since I wasn’t raped. That the only issue here was my stolen money.
It, however, noted that an investigation has commenced into the incident, stating that it does not condone ill-treatment of visitors.
Are you sure?
They will likely exonerate themselves.
This is a better statement.
If confirmed to be true, I commend d investigation by the Zanzibar's Tourism Commission. But how do they hope to interrogate the complainant? Where does our High Commission (embassy) in all these? Truly, this is a very bad image to the Tanzania govt.
See country where systems work.
ZnzibarTourism TourismZanzibar attempt to investigate this case is commendable. The attack on zainabdehinde & the attitude of the police & the hotel management are disappointing. The culprits should be brought to book & the facility shot down to serve as a deterrent to others

It does not matter what TZ says. We may have our differences internally but when an outsider attacks one of us, then they attack all of us. Nigerians will not go to Tanzania or South Africa. There are 193 other countries (including Nigeria) where we can spend our hard-earned cash

This is really sad and unprofessional of Zanzibar , you don’t come telling them sorry , because she reported instead no recommendation of investigation was carried out ,. This is to tell you your tourism is not safe in any way , I advice Nigerian to look else
Wow! This is wonderful. I must commend the tourism authority in Tanzania for this action. This guarantees the security of visiting tourists in Tanzania.
This cannot be the first time you're hearing something like this.
Nigerian government will let Nigerians down, but Nigerians can never let Nigerians down whenever any Nigerian is being harassed in any part of the globe... My Nigerian people, una rock... 🙌🏽
They need to include the murder attempt
I see what you're saying here. 1Ladim

The hotel posted this and later deleted it, they confirmed everything she said but add that she was the one who invited the man into her room for sex.
_deyemi I wonder why it's only the sexual assault that's being mentioned, she also said she was being strangled and to me, that's attempted murder! Not so?

Two lessons learnt with this incident: 1) the power of the social media & 2)the power of a people united in purpose!
This people mess with Nigerians the wrong polygamous family in the world.
This is reactionary honestly! You failed to do the needful when it matters most.
Always been shocked is common with Africa leaders and their government
