At the end of April, some reportedly suggested that those choosing to work from home should be given smaller salaries, including a deduction in their travel allowance. Does the national wage policy allow this?

On April 28, Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri M. Saravanan said such a pay cut cannot be allowed and should not happen.

"There are no obstacles ; employers can ask them to come into the office. No party can work from home without the consent of the employer. "If an employer allows it , then they should not cut their salaries. If the employer does not agree with the employee working from home, they can ask the employee to come to the office,” he said after attending a breaking of fast ceremony.
