The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County rose to a record high Sunday for the second consecutive day, increasing 2.6 cents to $6.152, one day after rising 2.8 cents.
Over the long holiday weekend, the TSA is expected to screen more than two million people per day nationwide. Many are ready to travel after all the COVID-19 pandemic restrictions, and with planes full, the demand is driving up prices. "It has increased significantly over the last couple of months, prices for everything actually it's a lot hit you in the pocketbook and then you can't have as much fun where you're going," said SoCal resident Kimberly Winegar.In the meantime, across the nation this memorial day weekend, the wave of flight cancellations continues.Nationwide, more than 1,200 flights were canceled Sunday -- Delta Airlines experiencing the most, with 240 flights scrapped Saturday alone.
This isn’t limited to the holiday weekend. Has anyone bought an airline ticket lately? As recently as 2021 I would fly frequently from BUR to JFK. Round trip $400-$450 max. Even cheaper before the pandemic. Now, it’s pushing $1,000 round trip per ticket. It’s 24-7 not holidays.
No matter how high the prices of flights, gas or rentals people will find a way to pay.
