\u0027Canada no longer needs to be checking and vetting travellers on arrival into our country\u0027: Canadian Airports Council president

U.S. President Joe Biden’s administration will cease requiring COVID-19 tests before flights for all air travellers flying to the U.S. on June 12 at 12:01. a.m, The Wall Street Journal“This is very welcome news and I think it speaks to a growing global consensus to lift testing mandates for travel,” Monette Pasher, interim president at Canadian Airports Council, said. “Canada no longer needs to be checking and vetting travellers on arrival into our country at our airports.

Despite the change, airports and airlines continue to deal with massive passenger bottlenecks and service disruptions due to overwhelming demand. Pasher said random mandatory testing only increases delays. Add on severe labour shortages for security and border control checkpoints, and the situation has festered.

At Toronto Pearson International Airport, Air Canada cancelled nine per cent of its scheduled flights between June 1 and 9, the Canadian Press reported.Article content “For example, if an aircraft is held at a gate longer than expected or a flight is suddenly forced to cancel, that can affect the schedules of crews and the ground staff servicing the aircraft, disrupting subsequent flights.”

And COVID will spread more rapidly then they’ll whine that mask mandates were lifted too soon.

I thought you have to be vaccinated to get into Canada. How are these people getting on a plane for Canada? Unvaccinated aren’t even allowed to fly around Canada.

Aside From Pearson airport, I've heard people say YVR and most airports are a breeze.Even Pearson when the airlines don't schedule a lot of flights for the same few hours. Media love to hype the shit out of everything.

One has nothing to do with the other

Airlines selling all the seats in the middle of a pandemic without coordinating with government about staffing levels, then whining about bottlenecks, is a failure at the boardroom level. But the CEOs will collect their bonuses and everyone will blame Trudeau. Rinse and repeat.

The issue at airports has a not about Covid testing as that is always down after you pass immigration. The issue is staffing.

It’s ridiculous!
