Police and Water Minister Lisa Neville describes her decision to leave politics as one of the hardest she has had to make, but says an ongoing health battle means it’s not sustainable to stay in the ministry.

Neville took medical leave last year and was admitted to hospital with Crohn’s Disease, but said she had been determined to return to parliament. In 2016, she became the state’s first female police minister. She has worked under three premiers: Andrews, Steve Bracks and John Brumby.
