The ArriveCan app has been mandatory since November 2020, first forcing travellers to disclose their COVID\u002D19 symptoms and then as of last year requiring them to input their vaccination status into the app.

However, none of his sister’s children — ages 9, 12 and 13 — are vaccinated because their father would not allow it, said Kaulback. “I really do think that getting rid of this requirement, it’s not going to facilitate anything,” she said. “It’s going to increase travel demand, so more travellers are going to be coming into Canada. We’re going to see more delays if things haven’t been properly fixed and then on top of that we’re going to possibly see more health issues as well because it doesn’t seem as if we’re in a great state for COVID right now.

Many of the pandemic-related travel restrictions in Great Britain have already been lifted, he said. Governments seem to be trying to balance the benefits of public health restrictions with the need to allow people to travel and learn to live with the pandemic, he said.
