Anthony Albanese has been probed during a live interview about whether Tony Abbott and Malcolm Turnbull will sit near each other on the flight to Tokyo for Shinzo Abe’s funeral this week.

John Howard, Tony Abbott and Malcolm Turnbull will travel over for the September 27 funeral for Japan’s longest serving leader, who was assassinated while speaking at an election campaign rally on July 8.

“Well, Malcolm Turnbull is coming separately from the US,” Mr Albanese responded, before adding it’s important all are showing up for the funeral.“Japan is a very important partner of Australia.
