On Twitter, Mark referred to the premier’s statement and added: “I value my role and remain committed to the constituents of Vancouver-Mount Pleasant. I thank my family and colleagues for their support at this time.”Lisa Beare, minister of citizen services, will take over her portfolio which includes arts, culture and sport.

Mark, who is Nisga’a, Gitxsan, Cree and Ojibway and the mother of two daughters, is the first Indigenous women to serve as a cabinet minister. Most recently she was working on the province’s role in the 2026 FIFA World Cup bid.
