Those who are planning to reduce their leisure spending to cover the rising cost of living said they would first cut what they spend on eating out , leisure activities and clothes, shoes and accessories , before cutting back on holidays .Pandemic bounce-back
Spain – long been the most popular destination among British travellers – came top among those who had taken a holiday overseas , followed by France , and the US and Italy ., following a phased easing of entry restrictions, has seen it move into the top 10 most-visited countries. Among travellers aged 18 to 24, 56 per cent had taken an overseas holiday in the 12 months to August 2022 , while 56 per cent of young families with at least one child under five took a holiday in the same 12 months .
The biggest rise for this trend is among young families: up from 36 per cent in 2019 to 54 per cent in the 12 months to August.
